Being a chronic victim of the travel-lust-bug, I keep hopping on to popular travel sites, hoping that one day I might win a jackpot for being their 100 millionth visitor. I am not greedy you see, just a couple of free tickets to an exotic island would do.
Yeppie….! I see something….a 30% cash back! Now wait, how does a 30% discount of tickets worth 3 lacs translate into a Rs.2500 ! Read the fine print.. a. discount is applicable only on the fare & not on the taxes, (now comes the killer)…b. discount is limited to a maximum of Rs. 2500 per booking, (note: per booking & not per ticket). So the maximum benefit you stand to gain is Rs.2500.
Effective? Yea, it made me check out the fares but the question is, are such campaigns fair to consumer ? Over the period of time most us know such offers are just sweeteners, just to grab you from their competition but it still doesn’t mean you can get away with totally misleading offer statements!
