My Big Green Tinted Glasses

Unfortunately, there is no running away from the reality that surrounds us. Sometimes you just need to wear your big green tinted glass and image all is well.

Many years back I saw a Night Shyamalan movie, I think it was called The Village. The movie was about a group people who get so sick of the ‘world’ around them, that they build an isolated, cocoon-like, dwelling inside a wild life preserve, to live a quarantined life. When I watched the movie I thought the plot was simply silly, stupid & senseless; but just a decade down the lane, with more grey hair sticking out of my head, I find myself contemplating decisions – akin to the character’s depiction in the movie.

The things that people do just make news or get attention… the sheer lack of empathy & emotional intelligence… friends debating & defending hare-brained statements some politician made just to grab headlines… the situations I need to use my ‘mallu’ survival skills to reverse-manipulate people… and moments when I find Lennon raising from his grave, whispering his good old lyrics in my ears…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one….

Unfortunately, there is no running away from the reality that surrounds us. Sometimes you just need to wear your big green tinted glass and image all is well. Else, another delusional psychotic will shoot you in your back and claim that you were pure evil.
